 Mathilda Sis Josephine Yunk, age 86, of Cassville, died on Monday, May 7, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster surrounded by her family. She was born on September 24, 1925, in Bloomington, the daughter of Peter and Eleanora (Crubel) Moris. Sis grew up on the family farm and attended school at St. Marys Catholic School in Bloomington. On February 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Gerald Yunk at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. After their marriage, the couple farmed for many years in the Cassville area. In 2003, Sis moved to town from the farm. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the CCW. Sis loved to play cards, especially Rummy, 500, Euchre, and Poker. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, collecting decorative glass bowls and yodeling. Sis especially loved her summer girl trips that have been an annual event since 1993. She had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

 

Survivors include her five children: Phyllis (Gary) Breuer, Waukesha; Dianne Annie Hunt, Madison; Janet Jan (Terry) Gulmire, Cottage Grove; Elaine (Tom) Gehde, Cassville; Gary (Victoria) Yunk, Cassville; nine grandchildren: Corey (Heather) Breuer, Jill Panther, Gina Breuer, Kevin (Karen) Hunt, Chad (Marie) Hunt, Christine (Nate Ivanowski) Stoikes, Tina (Mark) Whalen, Carrie Wunderlin, and Sara (Robert) Rioldi; eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way; five step-grandchildren: Ben (Lindsay) Gehde, Clint (Jessica) Gehde, Tracy (Bob) Kubitz, Travis (Desiree) Ploessl, and Todd (Tricia) Ploessl, eleven step-great grandchildren; two sisters: Clara Mumm and Eleanor Mumm, both of Cassville; sisters-in-law: Carol Moris, Bloomington; Alma Moris, Mt. Hope; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Sis was preceded in death by her siblings: Ed Moris, John Moris, Jim Moris and Peter Moris; brothers-in-law, Loren Mumm and Walter Mumm, sisters-in-law, Agnes Moris and Mildred Moris, and a grandson-in-law, Phillip Panther.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, where a 4:00 p.m. scripture service was held. Friends also called on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville.
