Mary Lou LuLu Brooks, age 71 of Mount Hope, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born October 2, 1939 in Pennsylvania; the daughter of Orville and Blanche (Theather) Boone.

Mary Lou graduated from high school in Pennsylvania. She met and married James Brooks while he was a timber buyer in Pennsylvania. In 1964 they moved back to Grant County and lived in the Bloomington area. Mary Lou was formerly employed at Grafs Tavern and later owned Lulus Tavern; both in Patch Grove. She enjoyed being around everyone that came through the tavern door.

Surviving is her daughter Donna (Randy) Russell, Prairie du Chien; her son Pat (Renee) Brooks, Mount Hope; three grandchildren; James and Gina Russell, Prairie du Chien; and Darion Brooks, Mount Hope; her fianc Adolph Udelhoven, Mount Hope; two brothers Ben (Brenda) and LeRoy Boone of Port Royal , Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Boone; a sister-in-law, Helen Boone; and her former husband, James Brooks.

In keeping with Mary Lous wishes, there was not a funeral service. Family and friends called on Monday, November 22, 2010, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington, WI. Burial was in the St. Johns Cemetery, rural Patch Grove

In lieu of plants and flowers, a Mary Lou Brooks memorial fund has been established.
