DUBUQUE/CASSVILLE - Mary Ann (Donovan) Dalsing, age 84 of Dubuque, Iowa, formerly of Cassville, WI, passed away at home on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Mary Ann was born July 9, 1940, in Galena, Illinois to Agnes (Dillon Callahan) and John Donovan. Mary Ann graduated from St. Columbkille’s in 1958. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Nilus A. Dalsing, on April 23, 1960. After their marriage, the couple resided in Dubuque, IA., until retirement in 1995 when they moved to Cassville, WI. Mary Ann relocated back to Dubuque after Nilus passed to be closer to her family. Mary Ann was a member of Council Catholic Women and volunteered to assist with various things in the community and church. Mary Ann was an avid baker, who enjoyed sharing with her friends and neighbors; she enjoyed bingo, playing cards with her card group and sewing/crafts for her family.
Survivors include her children Joan Mest, Tom (Amy) Dalsing, Mary Jo (Larry) Smock, Betty (John) Klover, Kay (Ed) Sass, Tim (Teresa) Dalsing; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, brother, Tony (Betty) Callahan and brother-in-law Mike (Judy) Dalsing. Sisters-in-law: Shirley Donovan, Barb Callahan, Marilyn Callahan, Joanne Dalsing, Sue (Dalsing) Fry.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband Nilus, daughter Jane, brothers: Denny Donovan, Jack (Jeanette), Ray (Dorothy), Chuck, Don Callahan and sister, Florence Martin. Also, by her in-laws: Don (Anna Mae) Keleher, LaVerne, and Marvin Dalsing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, WI., on Saturday, February 1, at 12:00 p.m. with Father Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends may call from 4-7pm on Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Charles Catholic Church, where a 3:45pm rosary will be prayed. Friends may also call at 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is entrusted with her care.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque for the genuinely kind care provided to mom. We would also like to thank especially two of her dear friends, Patty Powers and Lila Gwinn.
