Mary C. Bishell, age 89, of Lancaster, died on Friday, January 15, 2010, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on November 21, 1920, in Montana, the daughter of Charles and Ellen (Shea) Walker. In 1941, she moved to Lancaster from Montana. On November 24, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Burnell E. Bishell at St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster. After their marriage, the couple raised ten children on the family farm. Mary enjoyed crocheting, baking, and family gatherings. She was an active member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster.
Survivors include her children: Charlie (Sheila) Bishell, Lancaster; Lloyd (Chris) Bishell, Lancaster; Joseph Bishell, Amarillo, TX; Ellen (Jim) Funk, Lancaster; Teresa (Steve) Collins, Lancaster; Marlene (Tom) Kluesner, Bloomington; Sue (Gary) Mumm, Lancaster; Marie Bishell, Bloomington; her daughter-in-law, Ginger Bishell, Fennimore; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; special family friends, Nancy Mumm and Von Bacon; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Burnell Bishell, on October 27, 1995 and her sons, Raymund and John Bishell, and a son in infancy; her brother, Lee Walker and her sister, Eileen Flesch.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 18, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father Bart Timmerman officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Sunday, January 17, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church where a rosary will be held at 3:45 p.m. and friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.
