LANCASTER – Marvin R. Studnicka, age 91, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Mineral Point Health Services in Mineral Point, WI. He was born on May 13, 1932, the son of Raymond and Myrtle (Larson) Studnicka. Marvin graduated valedictorian from Blue River High School on May 26, 1950. He worked various farm jobs for family until he enlisted in the United States Army on September 26, 1955, and served his country until September 26, 1957. After his return from the service, Marvin was united in marriage to Idabell Barr on October 24, 1959, at the Beetown Gospel Hall. They farmed in the Boscobel area and Beetown area, before he took a job as the yard foreman for Elwell Reynolds in 1969 and they moved to Lancaster. Marvin took a locksmith course and did lock work for many in the community over the years. In 1984, the lumber yard closed and he worked in maintenance at the Garden Gate Restaurant in Platteville for a few years. He was hired for the maintenance position at Sunrise Valley Apartments in 1987 and worked there until his retirement in 1998. Marvin also cleaned and mowed lawn for PCA from 1992 until he retired from there. Marvin trusted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior on April 24, 1943, through the truth of John 3:16. He was active in the Assembly of the Christians gathered to the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ in Beetown, WI, from the time he and Idabell moved to Beetown in 1961, until he was called home to Heaven.
Survivors include his children: Brent (Gail) Studnicka, Robbin (Shane) Zenz, Leah (Mark) Spindler; seven grandchildren: Alex, Nathan, and Jenna Studnicka, Taylor and Cletus Zenz, Annabell and Oscar Spindler; a brother, Ernell Studnicka and a sister, Evie Studnicka; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Idabell, Marvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold, LeRoy (Wanita) Studnicka.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Kent Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Marvin R. Studnicka Memorial Fund has been established.
