Marvin Ryan D. Haas, age 90, of Cassville, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2014, at home. Marvin was born on December 26, 1923, to Henry and Edna (Cardey) Haas. He spent his entire life on the home farm where he was born first farming with his father and his brother, Chester, and then with Chester after the death of his father in 1952. He attended Elwell School and graduated from Cassville High School in 1941.
Marvin enjoyed farming, both working the land and caring for livestock. He liked to operate and maintain all of his farm machinery, and especially in his later years, he was particularly fond of his Case IH Scout. He repaired clocks for many years and built both a grandfather and grandmother clock. He also, when younger, maintained bee hives and produced and sold honey in the local area. For the last forty years he mowed and took care of the Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery.
Marvin cared for his older brother, Chester, during Chesters last year so that he could continue to stay at home.
Marvin is survived by his sisters, Betty (Bill) Clauer and Sharon (Jim) Weisbenner, both of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Jerry Bussan, and his brother, Chester.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, with Rev. Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery, Cassville. Friends called one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
