Marvin G. David, age 90, of Potosi, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. He was born on May 21, 1926, in Tennyson, the son of Aloysius and Theresa (Wallenhorst) David. At the age of four, Marvin's mother passed away and he was raised by Joe and Anna Walsh. Marvin attended St. Andrew Catholic School. In August of 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country until his honorable discharge in June of 1946. Following his discharge, Marvin attended Madison Business College. On September 28, 1948, Marvin was united in marriage to Dorothy "Dot" Ginter at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville. In 1966, Marvin started David Lumber Company and was active in the business the majority of his life. He enjoyed playing Euchre, bowling, and playing bean bags. Marvin was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, the Catholic Knights Branch 42, Berg Averkamp VFW Post No. 5276 and the American Legion Post No. 473 of Potosi.

Survivors include his loving wife, "Dot"; their children: Deb (Terry) Johnson, Des Moines, IA; Gary (Marlene) David, Potosi; Joan David, Joliet, IL; a son-in-law, Mike Robinson, Milwaukee; 8 grandchildren: Niki Daumueller, Katie Thede, Nina Combs, Rachel Nelson, Lindsey Crudup, Holly and Dana Robinson, and Tyler David; 4 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Ben, Jordyn and Emma; a sister, Pat Langmeier, Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Helen Walsh, Tennyson.

In addition to his parents and his adopted parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Robinson; his siblings: Daniel and Walter David, "Penny" Althaus, "Bee" Tschudi, and Floyd David; his adopted siblings: Sr. Patricia Ann Walsh, Cliff (Isabelle), Ned (Julie), Bob (Jeannette), and Don Walsh; and a great-granddaughter, Paige.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 22, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson. Family and friends called on Sunday, August 21, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is serving the family.
