Marty C. Hicks

Marty C. Hicks, age 47, of Platteville, died on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at his home. He was born on April 30, 1964, in Rantoul, IL, the son of Samual and Bettie (Martin) Hicks. Marty graduated from Platteville High School and furthered his education at Southwest Technical College in Fennimore. He then served his country for four years in the United States National Guard. Marty enjoyed carpentry work and had a passion for space and the solar system. He was currently building an electronic model of the solar system. Marty was a member of EAA.

Survivors include his mother, Bettie Martin, Dubuque, IA; two sisters: Michele (Craig) Hicks Clark, Dubuque, IA, and their children, Dustin, Ariel, and Collin; Myleen (Mike) Bell, Des Moines, IA, and their child, Cooper; uncles: Robert (Delores) Martin, Belmont; Steve (Becky) Martin, Wauzeka; other relatives and many friends.

Marty was preceded in death by his father in 1982 and two uncles, Carl and Jack Martin.

Graveside services with military honors were held on Monday, August 29, 2011, at Mifflin Cemetery, Mifflin Township at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville is serving the family.
