Marshall "Tuffy" Burton, age 70, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 3, 2015, at Azura Memory Care in Beloit. Tuffy was born on April 3, 1945 in Lancaster, WI, a son of Kenneth and Helene (Hildreth) Burton. Tuffy graduated from Alva High School in Lehigh Acres, FL in 1966. He married Carol L. Govier on June 17, 1967 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. Tuffy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially his great-grandson Nathan Marshall. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Tuffy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol of Lancaster; his daughter, Kristine (Don) Mullikin of Janesville; his son, James Burton of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Brittany, Chrystal, and Dylan, and a great-grandson Nathan Marshall Blaedow, all of Janesville; sisters, Carletta (Wayne) Bausch of Viroqua and Vicky Ackerman of Freeport, IL; a brother, John (Marcia) Burton of Lancaster; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Joanne Suess, LoRayne Konichek, and Leila Williams; three brothers, LeRoy, Dennis, and Gary; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Govier.
To honor Marshall's life, a Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, with Pastor Dennis Govier officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends called one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
