Dubuque, Iowa

DUBUQUE, IA - Marlene Mabel Kaiser, 89, of Dubuque passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Bethany Home in Dubuque, IA. She was born at the hospital in Lancaster, Wisconsin, on April 7, 1935, the only child of Virgil and Mabel (Schumacher) Millin. 

 Marlene became a member of Davies Memorial United Church of Christ, Potosi in 1947. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of the church and continued to love and support the church she grew up in. When she moved to Dubuque in 1958, she worshipped faithfully at Westminster Presbyterian Church until her death.

Marlene graduated from Potosi High School in 1952. In 1956 she graduated with a degree in elementary education from Wisconsin State College, which later became the University of Wisconsin Platteville. From 1956 until 1958, Marlene taught at Washington Elementary School in Janesville, WI. From 1958 until her retirement in 1994, she taught at Irving Elementary School in Dubuque.

On August 20, 1960, Marlene was united in marriage to Marvin Kaiser in Dubuque, IA. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage.

Marlene enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends and being a Green Bay Packers shareholder. Her greatest joy was her grandson, Josh. She loved attending his activities, especially band concerts and tennis matches.

 Survivors cherishing her memory are her husband, Marvin; her daughter, Karla (Frank) and her grandson, Joshua Husemann. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Private funeral services will be held with burial in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family which will be donated according to Marlene’s wishes.

 Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi is assisting the family.

 Teachers come and go, but their memories are forever.

The lessons that they teach are forgotten never.

Teachers keep changing every now and then, but the great ones are remembered time and again.
