LANCASTER - Marilou Nemitz, age 84, of Lancaster, completed her earthy journey on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, with her loving family by her side at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster.
Marilou was born February 9, 1939, in a small Boscobel home, the daughter of Arnold & Isabelle (Vogt) Jenson. After Arnold passed away in October 1941, Isabelle & Marilou moved to Fred and Addie Vogt’s farm in Glen Haven Township. During WWII, Isabelle moved to Madison for employment. Isabelle met and married William Zahrte. In 1946, they moved to Millston, Wisconsin. At age 12, Marilou helped in their grocery store and bar. She attended high school in Black River Falls. Her first date with Ronald G. Nemitz was on Halloween in 1955. They married on July 21, 1956. In the early 70’s, Ronnie and Marilou took over the Vogt Family Farm and later owned Nemitz Country Bar in North Andover. Marilou’s family was her whole world.
She is survived by children: Jeff (Faith) Nemitz, Nan Reuter, Todd (Lois) Nemitz, Dion (Lori) Nemitz, Brad (Nikki) Nemitz, Lori (Tom) Irish, Deanna (Scott) Cargill; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Craig (Peg) Zahrte; a sister-in-law: Jackie Zahrte; and members of the Nemitz, Vogt and Zahrte families.
She is welcomed into heaven by her loving husband, Ronnie; sister, Nan Zahrte; brother, Steven Zahrte; parents: Arnold Jenson, Isabelle & William Zahrte; grandson, Adam Nemitz; great-grandson, Dillon Nemitz; grandparents, uncles, in-laws, many nephews, nieces and beloved friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. Noon at Holy Mary Help of Christians Church in Glen Haven, Wisconsin, with Father Gregory Ihm officiating. Private family burial will be held in the Knapp Cemetery, rural Millston. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
In lieu of plants and flowers, Marilou has requested a repair fund be established for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven, WI in memory of Ronald & Marilou Nemitz. Please mail memorials to: 208 N Randolph St, Cuba City, WI 53807.
