Marie Specht

Marie E. Specht, age 77, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born on July 22, 1937, in Arthur, the daughter of Paul and Gladys (Nodolft) Burkhard. Marie's father, Paul, came from Switzerland in 1929. She graduated from Platteville High School. On April 19, 1956, Marie was united in marriage to Lawrence E. "Arkie" Specht at First English Lutheran Church in Platteville. She worked at various restaurants and later for Ren Company. Marie was employed for over 15 years for Grant County Social Services. In retirement, she worked at the Grant County Thrift Shop. Marie was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Arthur and the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Marie's kindness to her family and friends will always be remembered in our hearts.

Survivors include her husband, Arkie; a sister, Grace Ann Burkhard; many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Gladys Burkhard.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 9, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Reverend Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in Arthur Cemetery, Lima Township. Family and friends called on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is serving the family.
