LANCASTER – Marie M. Muller, age 97, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on September 18, 1920, in Parish Township, the daughter of Josephine Winkler. Marie attended Sunny Brook School until the 6th grade. She graduated Valedictorian from St. Andrew Catholic School in 1937. On October 7, 1941, Marie was united in marriage to Clifford Muller at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. She was employed for several years at the former "Nell's Café" in Lancaster as a cook and waitress and in maintenance at the Schreiner Memorial Library until her retirement in 1981. Marie was a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader for many years. She enjoyed scrapbooking and has books dating back to 1935. Marie also enjoyed baking, cooking, and crafts. Each year the grandchildren would get a homemade ornament for Christmas as well as many other homemade gifts. She dearly loved family get togethers that often included friends and neighbors. Marie was a devoted member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster.
Survivors include her children: Thomas Muller, Montgomery, IL; James (Angie Buss) Muller, Stitzer; three grandchildren: Michael (Katie) Muller, Hanover Park, IL; Shelly (Roger) Swenson, Oregon; Phillip Gensmer, Janesville; four great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Fred Gensmer, Janesville; grandson-in-law, Brian Wheeler, Lee, IL; cherished friend, Donna Muller, Madison; many members of the Muller Family; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Clifford, Marie was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Jean Gensmer; a daughter-in-law, Verna Muller; two grandchildren: Jeffrey Ryan Muller and Cathy Wheeler.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017, at 12:00 noon at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Vernon officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
