Margaret M. Ploessl, age 92, of Glen Haven, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison. She was born on January 3, 1927, in Cassville, the daughter of Ralph and Appolonia (Dresen) McCartney. Margaret attended rural schoolhouses. On July 25, 1946, she was united into marriage to Ralph B. Ploessl at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. After raising her family, Margaret was employed at Rapid Die & Molding in Cassville for over 25 years. Together Margaret and Ralph started farming in Cassville and later moved to farm in Glen Haven, until their retirement in 1994. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glen Haven and its Altar Society. In retirement she enjoyed playing euchre and traveling. Margaret dearly loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren and keeping up with their activities.
Survivors include her children: Wayne (Colleen), Roger (Barb), and Cindy (Larry) Osterhaus; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband of 72 years, Ralph, Margaret was preceded in death by three sons: Dennis, Bruce, and Timothy, a daughter, Nancy (Robert) Grabow; one grandson, Dustin Osterhaus; a great-grandson, Vincent Shefelbein; her siblings: Virgil McCartney, Helen (Francis) Rauch, Darlene (George) McDonald, Delores (Vernon) Kelly, and Fred (Pat) McCartney; a brother-in-law, William "Bill" Williams.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church in Glen Haven with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in the Gockel Cemetery, rural Glen Haven. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church, where an 8:45 a.m. parish rosary will be prayed. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is assisting the family.
