Marcus Martin

Marcus Martin, age 86, passed away peacefully with his family present on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born April 5, 1928, the son of Ralph and Hazel (Boyd) Martin. Marcus attended Dry Hollow Rural School through the eighth grade. In 1953, he completed a mechanic course with Allis Chalmers Tractor Company in Milwaukee. Marcus was employed as a mechanic at Scott Implement in Platteville. In 1964, he bought the Ralph and Hazel Martin Farm in Liberty and Ellenboro Townships. Marcus also repaired televisions and radios. He was a member of the Grant Antique Collectors Club.

Survivors include his brother, Wilbur (Marie) Martin; two nieces: Judy (Doug) Hubbard; Kathy (Kevin) Olson; a special nephew, Greg (Donna) Martin; nine great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great nephew.

Marcus was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster, with Rev. Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Ellenboro Township. Friends called on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
