Marcella A. Sally Leibfried, age 76, of Lancaster, died on Thursday, September 29, 2011, as a result of injuries in an automobile accident. She was born on December 11, 1934, the daughter of Arthur and Laura (Kelly) Burggraf. Sally graduated from Lancaster High School. On July 2, 1955, Sally was united in marriage to Robert G. Leibfried. She has enjoyed a long career in banking, which began in Madison and later in Potosi. Sally was employed for over thirty years at the former Lancaster State Bank; now know as M&I, until her retirement. Sally was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster. She enjoyed her flower gardens, gathering black walnuts, and visiting with people. In her retirement, Sally enjoyed summers spent with her husband, Robert, in Northern Wisconsin and was an exceptional care giver to him during his illness.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Skippy) Leibfried, Lancaster; two grandsons: Robert Leibfried of Casper, Wyoming and Kurt Leibfried, Lancaster; her mother-in-law, Catherine Leibfried, Lancaster; sisters: Marita Seitz, Prairie du Chien; Dolores (Jiggs) Hampton, Lancaster, and sister-in-law, Dot Burggraf of Cave Creek, Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Sally was preceded in death by her brothers, Norbert and Arnold (Dolores) Burggraf and a brother-in-law, Frank Seitz.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Monday, October 3, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Marcella A. Leibfried memorial fund has been established.
