MaKayla A. Mak Hore, age 15, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012, as the result of an automobile accident in Liberty Township, Grant County. MaKayla was born in Lancaster on September 17, 1997, a daughter of Thomas and Anne (Mergen) Hore.
She was a freshman at Lancaster High School. MaKayla excelled in school along with many sports activities, which included volleyball, track, softball, and was very passionate about basketball. She sang in the school choir, and was a member of student council and the Leo Club. MaKayla loved her sports, camping at Lake Joy, playing video games, listening to music and hanging out with her family and friends. She had a heart of gold and a smile that lit up a room.
MaKayla is survived by her parents, Tom and Anne; her brother, Justin; her sister, Jena; her grandparents, James and Mary Hore, and Robert and Mary Mergen; her aunts, Jean Hore; Pauline (Jeff) Rice and their children, Ben and Samantha Rice; her uncles, Jim (Sue Reinhardt) Mergen and his children, Eric and Brittany Mergen; Steve (Michele Hewitt) Mergen. She also had many friends, including special friends, Jessi Johanning, Kindra Yoose, Carly Hauth and Zach Hentrich.
She was preceded in death by her uncle, William BillHore.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Lancaster Senior High School Gymnasium with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. A private family burial service will be held. Friends called on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Senior High School Gymnasium.
In lieu of plants and flowers, a MaKayla A. Hore memorial fund has been established.
