Lyle E. Morrow, age 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at his home. He was born on August 11, 1933, in Little Grant Township, the son of Archie and Genevieve (Griswold) Morrow. He graduated from Lancaster High School. Following graduation, Lyle was drafted into the United States Army. He served his country for two years. In 1956, Lyle was united in marriage to Karen Stout at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. After their marriage, Lyle worked various jobs including farm work for Earl Frear. He purchased that farm in 1963 and several other area farms thereafter. In the mid 1970's, Lyle was the largest hog farmer in the state of Wisconsin. He had a passion for farming and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren on the farm and on Ranger rides, especially "whipping donuts." Lyle was a gourmet cook; his specialty was grilled cheese and pancakes. He was a generous man, always lending a hand to those in need.
Survivors include his children: Shari Schneider; Gary (Teri) Morrow; Shali Bennett; his grandchildren: Scott Schneider, Ryan Schneider, Ashleigh Morrow, Travis Morrow, Shea Bennett, Chelsea Cooley, and Tashia Morrow; ten great-grandchildren; his siblings: Ardis Kasper, Phyllis (Burdette) Pagenkopf, and Kathryn (Frannie) Pluemer; his in-laws: Roger Rech and LaVon Morrow; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by his former wife, Karen; his siblings: Marge Ohlert, Virgil Morrow, Ivan Morrow, Marilyn Rech, Leonard Morrow, and Myrna Starrett.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Little Grant Cemetery, Little Grant Township. Family and friends may call on Friday, August 31, 2018, from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given to the Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department or EMS.
