Lucille K. Tracy, age 94, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Southwest Health Center, Platteville. She was born on November 20, 1920, at Wingville Township, in Grant County, the daughter of Albert and Margaret (O'Flahrity) Hying. The family later moved to Centerville, near Highland. She attended a country school there. The family later moved to a farm near Castle Rock Ridge. She graduated from Montfort High School. Lucille attended the University of Wisconsin at Platteville where she received a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in various rural schools in the area. On November 12, 1941, Lucille married Kenneth Tracy at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort. The family moved to Lancaster. She did volunteer driving for Grant County Social Services for thirty-five years. Lucille was a financial money manager counselor for social services, a holiday project volunteer for thirty-three years and a manager and board member for the Grant County Thrift Shop for forty-one years. Lucille also did volunteer driving for the Center on Aging for fourteen years. She also volunteered at Grant Regional Health Center. Lucille was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women, where she held several offices. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and belonged to the St. Clement Quilters.
Survivors include her children: Jane Cree, Marshall; Eugene (Joy) Tracy, Blanch, NC; Debra Tracy, Lancaster; Janine Tracy, Hollandale; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seventeen step-great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Tracy, Lancaster; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband on December 15, 2008; two sons: Ronald and Terry Tracy; two brothers: Robert and Albert Hying; and three sisters, Helen Riehle, Mary Kilby, and Margaret Hying.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with the Most Reverend Donald Hying and Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Monday, February 2, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster where a 2:45 p.m. rosary and scripture service was held. Friends also called on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
