Lucille Petersen

Lucille "Lucy" Petersen, age 91, formerly of Lancaster, died in the St. Croix Health Center on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, in New Richmond, WI.

Lucille was born February 26, 1924, in Lancaster, to Dwight Henry and Catherine C. (Kraneburg) Fitzgerald. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1942. Lucille was preceded in death by husband George Ernest Petersen on May 13, 1992, whom she married September 18, 1942, in Dubuque, IA. They farmed successfully in the Lancaster area. In later years George chose to become an independent carpenter, while Lucille became a bookkeeper for the Bailey Oil Company in Lancaster. In early 2000, Lucille moved to New Richmond, WI to be close to family members.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Patricia Alta (Petersen) Jonas (Thomas) and Shirley Ann (Petersen) Cronick (Joseph M.); Grandchildren: George W. Jonas (Mary) of Chicago, IL and Victor P. Jonas (Michelle) of Cottage Grove, MN, Joseph P. Cronick of Madison, WI , and Susannah R. Cronick of New Richmond, WI.; Great grandchildren Sophia, Henry, Madeline, and Cooper.

A memorial service was held at the Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Dodge Cemetery where George is buried. All were welcome to attend and celebrate Lucille's life. A charitable fund has been established in Lucille Petersen's name for the Fund to Benefit the St. Croix Health Center at 1445 N 4th Street, New Richmond WI 54017, addressed to Lisa Leahy, Director of Social Services.
