Lucille G. Reed

Lucille "Lue" G. (Nicholson) Reed, age 94, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at Orchard Manor, Lancaster. She was born May 10, 1924 in British Hollow to Charles Irvin and Cora (Richards) Nicholson. Lue was raised from age of 3 by her mother and step-father Peter Honerbaum. She graduated 8th grade from Aupperle Rural school at Aupperle Corners, Lancaster, WI. Lue married Wilbert "Stub" Reed December 25, 1946 at the United Methodist parsonage by Reverend James Vincent. She and her husband farmed many years at Hudson Hollow Road and later in North Lancaster Township at Pine Knob Road. Lucille also worked many years at Kroger and Piggly Wiggly stores as a cashier and bookkeeper.
She and her husband enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada and Door County. She loved making chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends, crocheting, crafts, gardening, playing cards, bingo and her beloved casino bus trips with Cheri on B&B Tours, who lovingly called Lue her "other mom". Lue loved scrapbooking at Sugar Creek Bible Camp retreats for many years and making her beautiful handmade cards she shared with family and friends. She also spent many years caring for her disabled son in their home.
She is survived by her loving children: Linda of Stitzer and Larry of Lancaster; three grandchildren: Jason of Platteville, Becki (Eric) Kiesau of Lacrescent MN, and Michael of Mt Hope; five great grandchildren: Thomas, Kelsey, Lexi Kiesau of Lacrescent MN and Mariah and Marissa of Mt Hope/Fennimore; a niece and two nephews; great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step brother Leroy (Evelyn) Honerbaum, sister and brothers-in-law: Sylvia (Dick) Richards, Almina (Earl) Walker, Berdetta Reed, Leonard (Lois) Reed; and son-in-law Dennis Reed.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Orchard Manor Nursing Home Chapel in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the chapel. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.
