Louis K. Bossert, age 87, of Cassville died on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on January 21, 1924, in rural Cassville, the son of Harry and Clara (Bryhan) Bossert. On June 26, 1945, Louis was united in marriage to Helen L. Rice at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Burton. Louis served several terms on the St. Peters Lutheran Church Council. He also served on the Cassville Volunteer Fire Department for twenty-seven years, Cassville Village Board, Elderly Housing Board, Cassville Cemetery Association, and was a Past Master for the Masonic Lodge. Louis was employed as a State Farm Insurance Agent for twenty years.
Survivors include his children: Steven (Diane) Bossert, Fountain City; Vicki (David) Ploessl, Cassville; Laura (Mark) Joyce, Bloomington; Lisa (Randy) Hantelmann, Dubuque, IA; half brother, Bruce Bossert, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Melvin Houghton, Cassville; sister-in-law, Clarice Bossert, Milwaukee; good friend, Bernice Stratton, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Helen on January 18, 1998, an infant brother, Gainford, brother, Harlyn, sister, Ruth Houghton and a grandson, Andrew Bossert, killed in Iraq in 2005.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 19, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, with Pastor Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Thursday, August 18, from 4 to 8 pm at Martin Funeral Home, Cassville, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
