Louis J. Knetter, age 93, of Platteville passed away at home on April 10, 2018. He was born June 21, 1924 in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Louis M. and Lillian (Dvorak) Knetter. Louis married Lorraine Dunbar on November 12, 1945 in Wausau. He served in the United States Navy and was a proud WWII Veteran. In his free time, Louis enjoyed stamp collecting, fishing, hunting, and wintering in Florida for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Lorraine; four children: Sandra (Lee) Baumhover, David (Jan) Knetter, Dean (Cathy) Knetter, and Tia (Scott) Knetter-Stolper; a special granddaughter, Trina (Tron) Hayslett; many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Wolf; and several brothers and sisters.
A funeral mass followed by Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Platteville with Fr. John Blewett officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Church Cemetery, Livingston. Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Friday. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Louis J. Knetter Memorial Fund has been established. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Platteville is entrusted with his services.
