Lorraine E. Kohlenberg

LANCASTER – Lorraine E. Kohlenberg, age 96, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. She was born on January 18, 1922, in Fennimore, WI, the daughter of Henry J. and Genevieve (Thompson) Schneider. Lorraine attended elementary school at Brown School near Fennimore and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1939. On August 20, 1942, she was united in marriage to J. Carter Kohlenberg. Together, Carter and Lorraine farmed in Ellenboro Township for 46 years. She also worked at McIntyre, Kinney and Urban for 24 years as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. Lorraine enjoyed holidays with her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, working crossword puzzles, and playing games and doing email on her computer.
She is survived by her four sons: James, Robert (Norma), Gregory (Sue), and Bruce (Cathy); 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, J. Carter; three brothers: Carlos, Howard, and Gordon; two sisters: Ruth and Barbara; two daughters-in-law: Janet and Cathy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison St., Lancaster. Friends may also call on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials are suggested to the Lancaster United Methodist Church, Schreiner Memorial Library, or a charity of your choice.
