Loren M. Junk, age 87, of Platteville, formerly of Cassville, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. Loren was born on February 23, 1927 in Glen Haven Township, WI a son of Arnold and Marie (Esser) Junk.

Loren married Elizabeth Betty Weber on August 28, 1950 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington. After their marriage, they farmed for ten years near Bloomington. They then moved to Cassville and owned and operated the Town Pump Tavern for 17 years. Loren was also the rural mail carrier for the Cassville and Glen Haven Post Offices for 30 years until he retired at age 69. He was very active at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, with the Knights of Columbus, and a honorary Red Cross blood donor.

Lorens love of God, family, friends, and farming kept him very busy. He enjoyed gardening, helping his children and others, and playing cards.

Loren is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Gregory (Shirley) Junk, Platteville, Nancy (David) Brunton, Platteville, and Terry (Diane) Yunk, Dodgeville; eight grandchildren, Amy Shellnutt, Jeanne Junk, Jeremy (Melanie) Junk, Cheri Brunton, Dan (Tracy) Brunton, Katie (Justin) Grinnell, Sara (Louie) Freise, and Chad (Shannon) Yunk; ten great-grandchildren; his siblings, Myrna (Harold) Clark, Arnold Junk Jr., Donna (Skip) Raisbeck, and Wayne (Arlene) Junk; a brother-in-law, Ron Bowers; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald Yunk; and a sister, Shirley Bowers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery. Friends called from 4:30 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, May 27, at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, where there was a prayer service at 4:30 pm, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the Church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville is assisting the family.
