Loren F. Haines, age 87, of rural Lancaster, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born on April 8, 1929, on the home farm in Ellenboro Township, the son of Sam and Elva (Boyd) Haines. Loren attended elementary school in several different one room schools and Lancaster Elementary. Loren was united in marriage to Gladys R. Mohlmann, of Belmont, on June 28, 1949, at the United Methodist Church in Platteville. He was first employed at Farley & Letcher Manufacturing in Dubuque, IA, later drove gravel truck for Becker & Tuckwood, Lancaster, and farmed three rental farms before buying their own farm in Ellenboro Township, where they farmed until retirement. He enjoyed deer hunting and hitting all the local coffee shops in the area.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; one son, Larry (Donna) Haines, Lancaster; a daughter, Shari (John) Fuerstenberg, Platteville; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Virginia) Haines, and Dallas Haines, all of Tomah; one sister, LaVon (Paul) Naegle, Council Bluffs, IA; a sister-in-law, Agnes Scott, Fennimore.
In addition to his parents, Loren was preceded in death by his son, David; twin brother, Leland (Ruth Ann); his wife's parents, Louis and Elsie Mohlmann.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S. Madison Street, Lancaster, with Roy Weber officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
