Lois J. Soden, age 85, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born on February 1, 1929, in Lodi, the daughter of Ted and Alice (Chrysler) Quam. On March 28, 1953, she married Victor Soden, Sr. in Caledonia, MN. She and her husband lived and raised their five children in Lancaster. Lois enjoyed spending winters in Florida, spending time with her grandkids and most of all, spending time with her husband, Rip. She loved to read and dance. Lois also enjoyed spending time crocheting afghans for her family members.
Survivors include her four children: Ken (Barb) Thompson, Lancaster; Deb (David) Randall, Boscobel; Victor Soden, Jr., Monroe; and Vicki (Bob) Paris, Lancaster; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; her sister, Clarice Packard, Baraboo; her brother, Duane Quam, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Hester Baier, Eau Galle; Hazel Soden, Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Victor Soden, Sr., one sister, Janice Quam, her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Thompson, her grandson, Nick Pitzen, and a brother-in-law, Harlan Packard.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 22, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster with Reverend Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
