Lois J. Flynn, age 73, of Lancaster, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. She was born along with her twin Larry, on March 2, 1943, in Prairie du Chien, the daughter of Clarence and Helen (Crane) Nugent. Lois graduated from Seneca High School in 1961. On March 1, 1963, she was united in marriage to Laddie Flynn. Three sons were born to this union: Randy, Jeff and Brian. Lois was employed at Loud Speaker Component in Lancaster for many years before finding her true calling as a CNA. Lois had a passion for caring for others. She provided private home care as well as worked at Orchard Manor Nursing Home until her retirement this February. Lois enjoyed traveling and sightseeing. She also loved spending time with her family, friends, grandchildren and grand-dogs.
Survivors include her three sons: Randy (Amy) Flynn, Lancaster; Jeff (Mary) Flynn, Stitzer; Brian (Nicole McLean) Flynn, Lancaster; two grandchildren: Connor Flynn and Evan Weber; her grand-dogs: Maggie Mae, Mylee Rose and Miles; her special friend, Kurt Miller; her siblings: Owen (Mary) Nugent, Dubuque, IA; Phyllis (Robert) Benish, La Crosse; Mary Anita Thiele, La Crosse; Dean (Mary) Nugent, Holman; Colleen Nugent, La Crosse; sisters-in-law: Donna McCormick, Menasha; Betty Fry, Monona; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and extended Orchard Manor Nursing Home family.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Laddie; her brothers: Clair, Bernard and Larry; and her brothers-in-law: Dennis Thiele, James Flynn, John Flynn, and Larry Fry.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Orchard Manor Nursing Home Chapel with Reverend Pamela Strakeljahn officiating. Burial was in Boscobel Cemetery, Boscobel. Family and friends called on Monday, April 11, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster. Friends also called on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the nursing home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Lois J. Flynn Memorial Fund has been established.
