Lois Eleanor (Volp) Wulf, age 91, passed away at home with her daughters by her side on December 30, 2009 after a brief battle with Leukemia.
Lois was born June 17, 1918 in Menomonie, Wisconsin the daughter of Frank and Clara (Stokke) Volp. She graduated from Menomonie High School in 1936 and the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1941. She began her teaching career in Prescott, WI where she met the love of her life, Merton H. Wulf. They were united in marriage on May 31, 1943, and settled in Lancaster, WI in 1946. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1986. Lois taught Home Economics in Lancaster (one year in Bloomington) for 20 years; she and Mert retired from the Lancaster School District in 1977.
In addition to teaching, Lois and Mert managed the Lancaster Golf Course for 13 summers. Lois was a member of the Lancaster Congregational Church, PEO, and Eastern Star for over 50 years, and also a long time member of the church choir.
Lois was generous with her time and talents in the Lancaster community. She loved to socialize & have a good time. She was known for her quick wit & her warm smile. She enjoyed traveling with her daughters & was an avid sports fan of all Lancaster sports as well as collegiate and professional teams.
Lois is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Larry) Lemanski of Commerce, TX; Pamela (Douglas Clapp) Humphrey of Parker, CO; Barbara (Tom Kuban) Wulf of Madison, WI; Grandchildren, Scott (fianc Tracy Pena) Lemanski Corpus Christi, TX, Jennifer (Andrew Monaco) Lemanski, Edinburg, TX, Sarah (Steven) Reinprecht, Boca Raton, FL, Amanda Clapp, Arlington, VA; Andrew, Eric & Leah Kuban, Madison, WI. Great-grandchildren, Henning Reinprecht and Katherine Monaco. Sister-in-law Hannah Volp and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Merton Wulf; siblings Glenn Volp, Valeria Miller, Earl Volp, Richard Volp, & Frank Volp; Mother- and father-in-law Clinton and Fae Wulf; sisters-in-law Merle Haack, Leone Sibilsky, brothers-in-law Milton Haack & Marvin Sibilsky; niece Lana Siebers and nephew Frank Volp.
We would like to extend a very special thank you to Moms wonderful neighbors, Charlene & Norbert Schildgen and Lois & Virgil Vorwald, who made it possible for Mom to remain in our family home by looking in on her and doing all kinds of helpful tasks and to all of moms wonderful friends and family who always made her feel so loved. A special thank you to Theresa Dressler, Dr. Robert Stader & his staff, Grant Regional Health Center staff & Grant County Hospice staff.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster Congregational Church in Lancaster with Reverend Mark Dieter officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Friday, January 1, 2010 from 1-4 p.m. at the Lancaster Congregational Church and from 9 a.m. on Saturday until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Lois E. Wulf memorial fund has been established. The Schwartz Funeral Home of Lancaster is serving the family.
