CASSVILLE – Lila (Shaben) Hochhausen, a great wife, loving mother, and grandmother, went into the next phase of her journey on May 23, 2023.
She was born on May 29, 1936, to Clifford and Agnes (Brinkman) Shaben. Lila graduated from Cassville High School in Cassville, Wisconsin. She went on to do hair for many friends and family. Lila also waitressed at Whitetail Bluff and was a greeter at Stonefield, both in Cassville.
Lila was also a fine musician, even playing with her husband, “Jupe,” for a few years. She enjoyed going on the river, fishing, and crocheting.
Surviving is her children: Kim and Brad Hochhausen, daughters-in-law: Beth and Jenny Hochhausen; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings: Lonny (Helen) Shaben, Gloria (Robert “Bob”) Hudson, and Judy (Dennis) Laufenberg; brother-in-law, John Schnorrenberg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jupe; a son, Mitch; siblings: Jean (Vince “Krum”) Vondrum, LeRoy Shaben, John (Marlene) Shaben, Lea Mae (Lester) Esser, Joanne “Sis” (Gerald) Duncan, and Rose Schnorrenberg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Gregory Ihm officiating. A rosary service will be held at 8:45 a.m. at the church. Family and friends may gather from on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be held in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville.
The family would like to send our sincere thanks to Edenbrook in Platteville and the Grant County Hospice. Both have tremendous staff and caring people, and their dedication was very appreciated.
