BLOOMINGTON – Leta A. Hoffman, age 98, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born on August 2, 1922, the daughter of Walter and Berniece (Splinter) Runde. She attended high school in Janesville. On April 22, 1941, Leta was united in marriage to Andrew Hoffman, Jr. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington. She and Andrew farmed near North Andover for a few years and then bought their farm right outside of Bloomington where they raised their three sons and lived until they retired to the Village of Bloomington. Leta moved to Orchard Manor in 2016. She was a highly active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. Leta is well remembered for peeling many eggs and potatoes for the potato salad served at the annual Holy Name Society Fair Stand. She also worked in the kitchen at Bloomington High School for several years. Leta loved walking and playing cards and did both as long as she was able, even at Orchard Manor.
Survivors include two sons: Duane (Linda) Hoffman and Brent (Doreen) Hoffman all of Bloomington; a brother, Al Runde, Lancaster; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Leta was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew on December 23, 1993; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerome and Bette Ann Hoffman; a grandson, Brian Hoffman; a great-grandson, Aiden Hoffman; a sister, Alice Runde; 1 brother-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington. There will be no visitation. A Parish Rosary will be prayed on Monday at 10:45 a.m. at the church. Those in attendance are asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Leta A. Hoffman to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 535 Congress St., Bloomington, WI 53804. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is serving the family.
