Leota M. Cota

Leota M. Cota, age 94, of Patch Grove, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. She was born on November 19, 1916, the daughter of Elgie and Roxia (Clark) Cooley. In 1934, Leota was united in marriage to Francis L. Cota at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Together they farmed in Wyalusing Township. She was a member of the Patch Grove United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Thompson, Omaha, NE; sons: Merton Cota, Omaha, NE; Dennis Cota, Bagley, and Steven (Carol) Cota, Littleton, CO; her brothers: Keenan (Delia) Cooley, Bagley; Eugene (Mary Lou) Cooley, Woodman; along with eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Leota was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, a son, Eugene, a daughter Patricia Cota, and two brothers, Cecil and Alan Cooley.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 25, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington. Burial was in Brodtville Cemetery, Wyalusing Township. Family greeted friends from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Condolences or personal reflections may be directed to the family at  cotafarm@tds.net.
