Leone J. Richter, age 96, of Cassville, died on Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Lancaster Care Center. She was born on May 17, 1917, in Prairie du Chein, the daughter of John and Sophia (Pintz) Koresh. Leone attended school in Prairie du Chien. On March 30, 1940, she was united in marriage at a double ring ceremony to Celestine Richter at St. John's Catholic Church in Prairie du Chien. After their marriage the couple farmed in Glen Haven, North Andover, Lancaster, and Cassville, where they farmed for twenty-six years. She also worked as a hairdresser on the side. Leone loved dancing, playing cards, baking, gardening, and babysitting for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteer work at Orchard Manor and the food pantry. Leone was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville.

Survivors include her children: Ruth Haas, Cassville; Albert Richter, Oregon, WI; Reita (Roger) Breuer, Cassville; Rhonda (Dick) Wiedenbeck, Lancaster; Roxanne (Jim) Rounds, Boscobel; twenty grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a brother, John Koresh, Floyd, IA; sisters-in-law, Mary Berger and Arlene Koresh, both of Prairie du Chien; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Leone was preceded in death by her husband, Celestine; a son-in-law, LaVerne Haas; her brothers and sisters: George (Laura); Joe (Emma); Robert (Ruth); Hattie (Jack) Stevens; Tillie (Lester) Meyers; Rosie (Wayne) McFall; and Mildred (Louie) Spiker.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, October 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Settlement Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where a 3:45 p.m. prayer service was held at St. Charles Catholic Church. Friends also called on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville is assisting the family.
