Leonard V. Purkapile

August 11, 1924 — November 25, 1950

Leonard Virgil Purkapile, passed away in the Korean War on November 28, 1950. He served his country in World War II from April 12, 1943 until December 12, 1945. Leonard then re-enlisted on November 8, 1948. He was born on August 11, 1924, in Potosi, the son of Leroy and Leona (Davis) Purkapile. On May 2, 1949, Leonard was united in marriage to Janice Klein, who passed away on November 3, 2012.
Survivors include his daughter, Delores Hall, Lancaster; grandchildren: Leonard Hall, Lancaster; Lisa (Charlie) Rauch, Cassville; two great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one step-daughter, Joyce (Gene) Storms, Muscoda; four step-grandchildren; two sisters: Jeanette Smith, Genoa; Helen Potter, Beetown.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Leonard was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Bush.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison, Lancaster, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
