Leona M. Digman, age 98, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born on September 2, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Helena (Busch) Dietzel. She married Lavern A. Digman on August 23, 1944, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville. Together they farmed in the Kieler area. Leona loved the farm and being a homemaker. Everyone was welcome at her house, usually enjoying a home cooked meal. She had a large garden and canned much of the produce. Leona was a good baker and a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kieler. In retirement, Lavern and Leona moved to Lancaster. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children: David (Rhonda), Mary Ann (Charles) Hartke, Rita (Phil) Raisbeck, Carol (Larry) Addison, and Dan (Susan) Digman; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anne Dietzel; a sister-in-law, Sally Dietzel; many nieces, nephews, and members of the Digman family.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern; a granddaughter, Katie Hartke; siblings: Benny (Marcie) and Ambrose Dietzel, Angie (Leonard) Digman, and Marie Dietzel.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend John Sasse officiating. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Kieler. Family and friends called on Saturday, August 27, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is serving the family.
