Leland W. Anderson, age 100, of Bagley, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at his home.
He was born on December 30, 1916, in Patch Grove, the son of George and Wessie (Key) Anderson. Leland graduated from Patch Grove High School. He then worked in Chicago for a short time, where he met the love of his life, Elsie Jahoda. They were married on June 17, 1939, in Oak Park, IL. In 1940, they moved to the Bagley area where they farmed together for many years.
Leland drove school bus for the West Grant School District for 18 years. After retiring from farming, he was a milk truck driver for Hazleton Cheese Factory. Leland enjoyed bowling, woodworking, mowing his yard and sitting on his deck watching the birds and flowers. He dearly loved his family and treasured their visits.
Survivors include five children: Robert (DeAnna), Glenwood Springs, CO; Dixie (Bob) Duff, Three Rivers, MI; David, Wisconsin Rapids; Mark, Winona, MN; Julie (Chuck) Raisbeck, Bloomington; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elsie; two sisters: Meryl and Monna; a daughter-in-law, Colleen; and a grandson, Eric Breuer.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Patch Grove Cemetery, Patch Grove. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
