Leila M. Bausch (Mrs. Sylvester), age 87, of Lancaster, formerly of Cassville, died on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 30, 1921, in rural Cassville, the daughter of Chris and Eva (Kirschbaum) Meier. On November 21, 1942, Leila was united in marriage to Pvt. Sylvester B. Bausch at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Sparta, WI. Leila was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. She loved spending time with her family and friends as family was very important to her.
Survivors include her sons: Dennis (Rosann) Bausch, Potosi; Jack (Joan) Bausch, Cassville; six grandchildren: Pam (Dave) Lokken, Verona; Gary (Dawn) Bausch, Naperville, IL; Lorie (Tim) Lange, DeForest; Cheryl (Kevin) Raisbeck, Lancaster; Cindy (Jason) Kartman, La Crosse; Jill (Andy) Hulst, Viroqua; six great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; a sister, Geneva Stark, Lancaster; sisters-in-law, Lavon Meier, Potosi; Dorothy (Casey) Skowronek, Dubuque, IA; and a brother-in-law, Alfred (Marvella) Zittel, Alma; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Leila was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester on January 9, 1986; her brother and sisters: William Meier, Lillian Kirschbaum, Bernadine Zittel, and Elsie Kartman.
Funeral services were on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Norder officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Friends called on Monday, February 23, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where a 5:00 p.m. prayer service will be held at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville. Friends also called on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Leila M. Bausch memorial fund was established.
