LaVerne J. Crubel, age 90, of Bloomington, WI, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Divine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fennimore. He was born on June 16, 1928, the son of Henry and Mary (Errthum) Crubel. LaVerne attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Bloomington. On October 7, 1950, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, MaryAnn Chapman. LaVerne served his country proudly in the United States Army during Korean War from 1951 until 1953, stationed in Japan, where he made several lifelong friends. Upon his honorable discharge, LaVerne and MaryAnn purchased a farm in the Patch Grove Township, where they farmed and raised their family. LaVerne was a member of the Abraham-Hickok Wetmore American Legion No. 148 of Bloomington and St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, dancing and dearly loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, MaryAnn; his son, Mitch (Brenda) Crubel; a daughter, Jayne (Dan) Dressler; six grandchildren: Andrea (Shaun Murray) Ludlum, Danielle and Ryan Crubel, Amanda (Bruce) Simonsen, Laura (Kyle) Konichek, and Kris (Amanda) Dressler; 12 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Lexie, Tyson, Zachary, Rylee Jo, Jaxon, RJ, Alexis, Blake, Aspyn, Isabel, and Bruce; his brothers: Milo (Mary Alice) and Roger (Ruth) Crubel; a sister-in-law, Ruth Crubel; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, LaVerne was preceded in death by a sister, Norma (George) Smrcina; two brothers, Arthur and Harold (Carolyn) Crubel; a granddaughter in infancy, Amy Dressler; a brother-in-law, Keith (Irene) Chapman; two sisters-in-law: Marjorie (Eugene) Mergen and Virgie (Herbert) Taylor.
A Mass of Christian Burial with military honors will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bloomington at a later date. Family and friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is entrusted with his care.
