Lavern E. Langkamp, age 63, of Madison, formerly of Potosi, died on Friday, January 01, 2010, at HospiceCare Inc., in Fitchburg. He was born on December 25, 1946, in Dubuque, IA, the son on John and Germaine (Schmitz) Langkamp. Lavern was employed at American Family Insurance in the mail department. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Madison and enjoyed doing arts and crafts, going to movies, and Very Special Arts. He also loved watching the Price is Right.
Survivors include his siblings: Joe (Sally) Langkamp, Lancaster; Mark (Ann) Langkamp, Lafayette, IN; Jerry (Carol) Langkamp, Westby; John (RuthAnne) Langkamp, Port Orchard, WA; Jim (Kay) Langkamp, Schofield; David Langkamp, Dubuque, IA; Dennis (Cyndi) Langkamp, Mukwonago; Carl Langkamp, Benton; Rose (Bill) Galle, Dubuque, IA; Virginia (Dave) Becker, Dubuque, IA; Jeanette (Greg) Pehler, Oconomowoc; Marilyn (Francis) Ihm, Cassville; Donna (Dick) William, Poplar Grove, IL; Velma Burke, Louisburg, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lavern was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Doug Burke and many other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Madison with Msgr. Michael Burke and Father David Greenfield officiating. Burial was in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Family and friends called on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be offered to St. Maria Goretti Church, Madison or the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Inc., Fitchburg. Martin Funeral Home in Potosi is assisting the family.
