Laura L. Joyce

June 29, 1952 — January 25, 2023

BLOOMINGTON – Laura Lee (Bossert) Joyce, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster, Wisconsin. She was born June 29, 1952, the daughter of Louis and Helen (Rice) Bossert. In May of 1970, Laura graduated from Cassville High School, then worked at various jobs in town, including her father’s insurance business. On August 20, 1971, she married Mark J. Joyce, and they raised two children, James and Aaron, on the Joyce family farm in Beetown Township. Laura always had a huge garden and flowers planted everywhere in and around the house. She became a die-hard Packer and Badger fan and hated whenever they lost a game. Planting flowers and fishing were her favorite pastimes. Laura was a dedicated member of the St. Mary’s Parish Players in Bloomington and proudly participated in every play the group performed. She also enjoyed playing board games with her family (wink to Randy). Laura worked 25 years at Happy Joe’s in Lancaster as a cook and waitress, until her retirement in 2014. The next year she was diagnosed with early stages of dementia, and over the next few years, she slowly became limited in her mobility. Laura was able to stay on the farm until the summer of 2020 when she was admitted to Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She enjoyed her cats and dogs, but Opi was her favorite. Laura especially loved her family and looked forward to Christmas gatherings with the grandchildren and annual family picnics at Cassville.

Laura is survived by her husband, Mark of 51 years; children: James (Jennifer) Joyce and Aaron (Stephanie) Joyce; grandchildren: Miah, Macy, Brady, Lucy, Spencer, Alyx, and Anya Joyce; three siblings: Steve (Diane) Bossert, Vicki (Dave) Ploessl, and Lisa Hantelmann; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brock; her parents: Louis and Helen Bossert; father and mother-in-law: Jack and Anna Joyce; nephew, Sgt. Andrew Bossert; and brother-in-law, Randy Hantelmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Gregory Ihm officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bloomington. In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund in Laura’s name has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington is assisting the family.
