Laudell G. Culver

WOODMAN – Laudell G. Culver, age 90, of Woodman, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on June 24, 1933, on the Culver family farm, the son of Fond and Hazel (Steinbach) Culver.  Laudell attended Fennimore High School and then began farming with his father.  On December 21, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joanne I. Galbraith in Waukon, Iowa.  In addition to farming, Laudell operated heavy equipment over the course of his career.  He started by establishing ponds for farmers, which led to larger construction projects with many companies over the years.  Laudell later worked for John Deere Dubuque Tractor Works and Lancaster and Fennimore Interiors.  He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially turkey, and his German Shepard, Teddy. Laudell had a strong work ethic, which was passed down to his children.  He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Fennimore and Prairie du Chien.  Laudell dearly loved spending time with his family, especially attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of almost 72 years, Joanne; children: Rick (Sue), Cindy Culver, Lore (Ron) Lieberman, and Fonetta (Doug) Wayne; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters: La Von Strand and Karen Culver; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Laudell was preceded in death by a sister, Bernadine (Carl) Freymiller; a brother-in-law, Otis Strand.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster with Elder Ron Benesh officiating.  Private family burial will be held at a later date.  Family and friends may call on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
