LaMeda M. Vertein

LaMeda M.   Vertein, age 90, of Pewaukee, formerly of Platteville, died on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls. She was born on January 13, 1920, the daughter of Gus and Mayme (Wildenradt) Schmidt. LaMeda graduated from  Wonewoc High School and the Milwaukee School of Cosmetology. On June 3, 1944, she was united in marriage to Dale Vertein in Wonewoc. After their marriage, she continued to work as a beautician until she became a mother and full-time homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and an active volunteer in the community. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a good friend and will always be remembered for her smile and gift of conversation.

Survivors include her loving husband, Dale Vertein, Pewaukee; her children: Sybil (Dan) Vertein-Hebgen,  Wauwatosa; Doug (Elaine) Vertein, Pewaukee; nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, LaMeda was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held on  Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at  1:00 p.m. at the Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville with Pastor John Christianson officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Family and friends may call on from  12:00 noon until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
