Keith M. Chapman, age 89, of Bloomington, died on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Prairie Maison Nursing Home in Prairie du Chien. He was born on June 5, 1921, in Bloomington, the son of Arthur and Hazel (Oates) Chapman. On February 7, 1946, he was united in marriage to Irene E. Cathman. Keith was a lifelong resident of Bloomington, having only spent time away serving his country. During World War II, Keith was stationed in New Guinea in the Pacific Theatre and received the Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart. He farmed on the Chapman family farm in Bloomington until his retirement in 1979. Keith owned Chapmans Mobile Home Park until 2010. He loved playing cards with his family and friends and spending time at Mas Bakery. Keith was a member of the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post No. 148 of Bloomington for over sixty years.

Survivors include his children: Charles (Linda) Chapman, Madison; Cheryl (Joseph) Dunlap, Bismarck, MO; Marcia (Charles) McCullick, Prairie du Chien; his grandchildren: Janel (Gregory) Dannecker, Appleton; Martel (Jennifer) Chapman, Madison; his great-grandchildren: Angeline, Alexander, and Zachary Dannecker and Annabelle Chapman; his sisters: Marjorie Mergen and Mary Ann (LaVern) Crubel, all of Bloomington; Virginia Taylor, Lancaster; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Honey Chapman; brothers-in-law: Eugene Mergen and Herbert Taylor.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 15, 201 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors was in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Family greeted friends on Thursday, April 14, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
