Kathryn A. Hocking, age 71, of Fennimore, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Stoughton. She was born on February 8, 1953, in Hazel Green, the daughter of Frederick and Arlene (Earles) Mauk. Kathryn graduated from Benton High School in 1972. After graduation, she earned her CNA certificate. On April 7, 1973, Kathryn was united in marriage to Steven H. Hocking at the New Diggins Primitive Methodist Church. After their marriage, she stayed home to raise her family. Kathryn later attended Southwest Wisconsin Technical College for Healthcare Unit Clerk. She was employed in healthcare for most of her working career. Steven preceded her in death in 2013. Kathyrn enjoyed traveling, camping, and sewing. She was always taking care of others and putting their needs above her own. Kathyrn will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children: Charlotte, Melissa, Russell (Niki), and Kristopher (Stephanie) Hocking; eight grandchildren: Dylan Kehoe, Trinity (Josiah) Schwendinger, Elliott Hocking, Brandon M. Hocking, Braxton Satona, Brandt, Brayson, and Ursala Hocking; two great-grandchildren: Maxwell and Ridley Schwendinger; “adopted grandchildren”, Jeremy Richardson, Payton Freymiller and Remmington Freymiller; her siblings: Susie (Daryl) Opie, James (Debra) Mauk, Frederick A. “Tuffy” (Irma) Mauk, III, and David Mauk; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Steven, Kathryn was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Joslin Howen and her sisters, Barbara in infancy and Nancy Snyder.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor David Kim officiating. The burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with her care.
