Kathleen McKillip

Kathleen L. McKillip, age 86, of Cassville, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born on February 1, 1928, in Iowa, the daughter of Alphonse and Catherine (Cleary) Schwendinger. Kathleen was employed at Oscar Meyer in Dubuque. On February 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to John McKillip in Prairie du Chien. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Crawford County. Kathleen enjoyed going to garage sales, gambling, and playing cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Kathleen was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children: Patricia (Karl) Johnson, Alaska; Linda (Harley) Clark, Boscobel; Sharon, Texas; Diane (Darrel) Wood, Florida; Mike (Sheila) McKillip, Potosi; Paul (Mary Hankemeier) McKillip, Louisiana; Kathryn McKillip, Boscobel; eleven grandchildren: Christine, Joseph, John, Adam, Matthew, Zachary, Steven, Brooke, Andrew, Connor, and Delany; great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters: Virginia McGovern, Missouri; Donald Schwendinger, Seneca; Rosemary (Roy) Wydert, Winthrop, IA; John (Jean) Schwendinger, Dubuque, IA; James Schwendinger, Cuba City; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; her brothers and sister: Robert Schwendinger, Anthony Schwendinger and Marjorie Sauegling; and a grandson, Donovan.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven. Family and friends called on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cassville is serving the family.
