Judith May Buss, age 71, of Platteville, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born on September 12, 1943, in Lancaster, the daughter of Herbert and Gladys (Wendlandt) Smith. Judith attended country school and graduated from Lancaster High School in 1960. On June 24, 1967, she was united in marriage to Michael Buss at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster. After their marriage, Judith was employed at Loud Speaker Component until moving to Platteville. She raised her family and was a loving aunt who cared for and raised her extended family as well. Judith enjoyed her flower garden, reading, traveling and her mother-daughter-sister shopping trips. She also enjoyed Sister Days.
Survivors include her loving husband, Michael Buss; their children: Aaron Buss and Meghan (Michael) Annable; one grandchild on the way; one brother, Orville Smith; four sisters: Ann (Jerry) Lawrence; Linda (Tom) Fielder; Micki Smith; Donna (Mark) Landon; a sister-in-law, Joyce Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Judith was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and David Smith; a sister, Jean Vogt; two nephews, Duane and Mark Smith; a great niece, Cherish Hope Lawrence; and her mother and father-in-law, Harold and Lyla Buss.
Private family funeral services were held on Friday, October 3, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster with Pastor David Froemming officiating. Private family burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Friday, October 3, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster.
