Joyce Pennekamp, age 60, of Potosi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 2, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Madison. She was born on February 11, 1949, the daughter of Lavern and Dorothy (Buss) Noel in Dubuque , Iowa . She graduated from Potosi High School in 1967. Joyce was united in marriage to Donald Pennekamp on September 3, 1966 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi .
Joyce enjoyed gardening, reading, wood refinishing, fishing, coon hunting, ginseng and mushroom hunting, the outdoors and last but not least, going to the dog track. She also liked baking, canning, crocheting, and helping people. Joyce loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Donald, Potosi; five children: Tim (Stacy) Pennekamp, Potosi, Jeremy (Jennifer) Pennekamp, Cobb, Laura (Aaron) Digman, Platteville, Sarah (Brad) Digman, Platteville and Rachel (Luke) Longhenry, Madison; 13 grandchildren: Sydney, Alexandria, Noah, Nickolas, Caden, Hannah, Skye, Devin, Caleb, Alayna, Jace, Lauren and Jenna; her twin sister, Judy Noel, Lancaster; two brothers: Tom (Karen) Noel, DeSoto and John (Deb) Noel, Beetown; her sister, Brenda (Dennis) Watters, Lancaster; nieces, nephews, and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Donald Oates; her son, Tommy; her sister, Suzanne and her brother, Steven.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Reverend Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi with a Scripture Service at 3:00 p.m. Friends were also welcome on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorials can be directed to the Joyce Pennekamp Memorial Fund.
