Joyce A. Klaas, age 63, of Lancaster, WI, died on Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster.
Joyce (Schmitz) Klaas was born on March 4, 1950, in Lancaster, daughter of Leo and Sylvia (Broihahn) Schmitz. She married Ray Klaas on July 25, 1970 in Lancaster.
Joyce enjoyed the early evening drives with Ray to watch for deer in the local area.
Surviving are her husband, Ray Klaas of Lancaster; a sister, Joan (John) Ames of Lancaster; son-in-law, Cord Myers of Beetown; grandchildren, Jesse and Heather Myers; sisters-in-law, Mary (Bill) Wisneski of Mesa, AZ, and Kathleen (Donald) Lau of Cassville; brothers-in-law, Ken (Jane) Klaas of Lancaster, Bill (Cindy) Klaas of Lancaster, and John (Tammy) Klaas of Mineral Point; numerous nieces and nephews; and her two beloved cats, Heidi & Holly.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim; her parents, Leo and Sylvia Schmitz; sister-in-law, Dixie and Dennis Lau; and parents-in-law, Floyd and Lorraine Klaas.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013, at St. Clements Catholic Church, Lancaster, with Fr. John Sasse officiating. Burial followed in St. Clements Catholic Cemetery. Friends called on Sunday, December 1, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home, 142 W. Oak, Lancaster. There was a scripture service at 4:30 p.m., followed by a rosary. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of plants and flowers, a Joyce A. Klaas memorial fund has been established.
