Joseph W. Gengler, age 81, of Cassville, formerly of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. He was born on June 29, 1932, in Glen Haven Township, the son of Edward and Ruth (Stark) Gengler. On July 1, 1967, Joseph was united in marriage to Sarah Bradley in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on December 27, 1991. He farmed with his father in the rural Bloomington area for years. Joseph also worked for a few years at Schurman’s Cheese Factory and then was employed with the Grant County Highway Department for twenty-three years until his retirement. He had a great interest in antique cars and tractors.

Survivors include his children: Ann Little, Lancaster; Gregory (Teri) Gengler, Cassville; and Mark Gengler, Lancaster; his special friend, Rose Moore, Richland Center; three grandchildren: Danielle and Bradley Little and Richard Bong; three sisters: Arlene Rauch, Cassville; Mary Weist, Madison; Marilyn (Gerald) Harrington, Sheboygan; two brothers: Norbert (Karole) Gengler and Robert (Vicki) Gengler, both of Lancaster; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Joseph was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann Bennett and a brother-in-law, Richard Rauch.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, August 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Family and friends called on Thursday, August 29, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster. Friends also called on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
