John E. Welsh, age 53, of Mount Hope died Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Center in Fennimore. He was born on September 12, 1955 in Lancaster, WI the son of Robert and Marion (Vesperman) Welsh. John attended school taking special education classes in Bloomington and Prairie du Chien. He worked at both the Twin Platte Center in Platteville and Southwest Opportunities Center in Lancaster.
John was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church. He also was a proud participant in Special Olympics. John loved listening to music, dancing, typing and watching TV, especially the older shows. He had just been given a new puppy, Chip.
John is survived by his mother, Marion Welsh, his sister, Mary (Robert) Keeney and his nephew, Tom Keeney all of Mount Hope; many Aunts and Uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Jack and Leone Welsh and John and Velma Vesperman.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Mount Hope United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial at Hermitage Cemetery, Mount Hope was at a later date. Friends called from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a John E. Welsh Memorial Fund has been established.
